Yummy Honeys: Kelly Choi

One of my favorite food shows. Image from http://www.nyc.gov

Ok I’m going to admit it; I’m more attracted to Caucasian women than Asian women. However I was totally smitten by Kelly Choi, who hosts NYC TV’s Eat Out NY. Choi, a former ford model and Korean by decent is statuesque with strikingly gorgeous features. Wow. She loves food and is beautiful. Can she cook? Who cares! Ms. Choi if you are ever reading this, help me return to the U.S. by marrying me! I need a visa plus I’m totally in love with you. I can cook.

She’s also incredibly smart and capable. She has a Master’s in journalism from Columbia. Plus she not only hosts Eat Out NY but she created the show in addition to writing, producing and directing it. Double wow.

The show is fantastic. It’s New York-centric, and offers a great look at the chefs that make NYC such an amazing dining out city. My only complaint is that she sometimes lapses into baby talk. It can get annoying but my shallow self is willing to look past it, as her hotness will cover a multitude of sins. If you live in New York City look out for it. You can get more information here about Eat Out NY.  I miss my weekly dose of Kelly and the City.

Here is an episode of her show:

  1. Sorry for the lack of posts these last few weeks. I’ve been called back to active duty for my Company Sergeant Major Course by the Singapore Army. Check back as I’ll try to post every time I’m home from training.

  2. Dude, she is one of the ugliest Korean girls I have seen. Korean-American women are natural, graceful and delicate . Look at Kelly on the show, the grim she makes (I guess it is supposed to be a smile) is such a turn-off. It’s more about her than the food. (more close up shots of her than the food) As I watch, I am afraid that some of her heavy make up and long strands of hair will end up in the prepared food. Her features are manly (the nose and who really knows how her eyes look like under this tar). Dude, go to Flushing and you will meet gorgeous girls with personality!

  3. Steve: Sorry for the delay in approving the post. Was in the field for training. I actually lived in Flushing for 3 months! Great, cheap food there.

  4. I don’t know this blog writer but dude, Jake, you are right on target. Couldn’t agree with you more about the choice of Kelly choi. Choi PINED after JOSH KELLY now at espn at Columbia J SCHOOL. He dumped her. Choi screamed at Elliott in the Columbia hallways. choi stalked Elliott’s girl. then got hired for ONE month at NEWS 12 BRONX . I saw Choi’s air checks Man she Sucked! Choi is NO sincere soul. She is not 32 as wikipedia states and she slummed around NYC writing freelance after news 12 trying to make it some how before she begged Arick Wierson at NYC TV for a shot. PEOPLE at NYC TV (not management) do not think highly of CHOI. CHOI goes to these RED CARPET EVENTS in evening gowns TRYING BEGGING CRYING, “LOOK AT ME PLEASE I AM KELLY CHOI.” She has no purpose at these events and paparazzi friends of mine remark they take her pix because she just bares leg at the male photogs. PATHETIC.

  5. Yikes, so much Kelly Choi hatred. Do you not like her too Dar or is it just your friend’s opinion.

She did a great job for Eat Out NY. With how gorgeous she looks she can bare all the leg she wants to the photogs. Yes Please.

  6. Kelly Choi is a VAPID, VAIN, stupid Host. THe only way Bravo picked her up is they needed someone on the cheap. There’s no way they could have vetted Kelly Choi. Choi is untalented. Just read the comments on her. Viewers don’t tune into her

  7. Hi dude. Wow where is all this Choi resentment coming from? I’m not in the states anymore didn’t know that Choi is the new Top Chef Masters host. Wow more Kelly Choi. She’s moving up in the world huh.

  8. I worked with her. SHe is a dick climber. She you know what to get her way up the corporate ladder. She is dumb as a doorknob and will step on anyone to get where needs to go. Kelly Choi should drop dead

  9. Haha that explains it. That bad huh? Any interesting stories to tell?

  10. kelly choi shows up in these frou frou outfits to NYC premieres and photographers ask who the hell is that? and why do we need to take her picture. She uses people to get her photographs shot. She has no purpose at the premieres/red carpets. Choi has screamed at people that are beneath her or who can’t help her, she also is rumored to have slept with numerous chefs

  11. Damn she’s hot! She’s definitely not a virgin and must have some one night stands. If she didn’t then she’s not as cool as I thought.

  12. how many times did kelly choi spread her legs to get this job?

  13. Dar…You are all over the Internet trashing Kelly Choi with the same shit, but under different names. You are a loser. You have no life, no career, no success and nothing better to do than sit at home with your laptop and hide behind your mother’s skirt while you post your shit. Get some guts, quit wetting your bed and stop acting like a little pussy you chicken shit. Leave the girl alone.

  14. Ignore Dar! The guy’s been trolling Choi forums all over the internet! One minute he claims to be a former classmate, the next a co-worker. What’s the real truth? She wouldn’t go out on a date with you? Shouldn’t you be in a prison cell with Trevor Sctoland? Maybe getting a Rogaine treatment with Arick Wierson and sleeping with his wife, Fabiana?

  15. “Top Chef Masters”: Love The Concept, Not The Host
    Posted by Jake Kalish

This is mostly really good news. Bravo is coming out with a new Top Chef show, which will “pit internationally famous chefs against each other.” Awesome! Except maybe for the host, Kelly Choi. We have problems with her, some of which may or may not be fair.
Kelly Choi is certainly credentialed – she’s hosted Eat Out NY on New York’s city-government run NYC TV (an episode rundown is here) and supposedly has a book due out in the spring called The 20 Most Delicious Dishes In New York, although a search for this book on Amazon finds nada. What is clear is that the 20 dishes are down from the 25 Choi intended to do a year ago.
Before we state our problems with Kelly Choi, let us state the somewhat obvious. Yes, she’s beautiful. Not Padma beautiful, but in the ballpark. Okay, now the issues, gleaned from watching Eat Out NY a lot:
    1) She has a bunch of weird tics that she should have gotten rid of before she entered broadcasting – she repeats what people say, often says “uhhhh” when she can’t think of anything. Stuff like that. In the clip we’ll show you, after someone says an oyster is from British Columbia, she exclaims “B.C.!” for no good reason. Then when he says another oyster is from Prince Edward Island, she says “P.E.I.s!” Not sure what that adds, Kelly.

    2) She often wears a long black vinyl coat that looks vaguely S&M -ish, but she totally wouldn’t do any S&M, because she seems kind of wholesome, and it’d clearly gross her out. False advertising!
    3) Her taste in restaurants, and food for that matter, often leans toward the “pretty” or fancy rather than the gritty or “authentic.” This might have something to do with being a beautiful woman, so we’ll cut her some slack.
    4) She’s fake bubbly. You know people like that? We just made her sound worse than she is, like she’s some horribly insincere person. She’s not. She actually seems really nice, and earnest. But she’s the type of person who would exclaim “That’s great!” when she means “that’s good.” You know? The sort of person who sometimes smiles because she’s got perfect teeth. Again, that sounded too mean. Honestly, if we met Kelly Choi in a bar we’d probably just spontaneously drool.
Look, why don’t you watch this clip from Eat Out NY and judge for yourself? On it, she coins the word “gi-gantuomous”!

  16. I have enjoyed watching Kelly since she first started hosting Eat Out NY on NYTV. People who are not TV/Entertainment or Food TV reporters really should shut up about criticizing her. I’m sure it is hard to get a job in this industry, you have to have a balance of fun, humor plus food knowledge. Kelly is obviously educated, bright, beautiful and she enjoys what she does. Why do we always have to find what is wrong with people, rather than celebrate the good they are doing? She’s been “on her grind” for years as a host of Eat Out NY, so I was happy to see her receive the job offer for Top Chef Masters. The Top Chef/Bravo franchise is one of my favorite shows to watch on Bravo. I’m sure they needed a host who knows the ends and outs of TV hosting for the upscale and gourmet food lovers, and who is also comfortable around the “food elite”. I thought Kelly was perfect for the job. People who are discussing the way she speaks, her ethnicity, her past dating life, and other nonsense are idiots! When people pursue their dreams and excel, we should support them! I wish her well, and would love to see her get married to a wonderful man, and continue moving up the ranks in TV journalism.

  17. Thank you Deanna for that refreshing change. I wish her all the best too!

  18. I do not like Kelly Choi.
I’m sure she is a nice person…….but please she’s not made for TV !!!!!!!!

  19. Kelly choi is supposed to be a model?? A model for death. CHoi is ick! She is anorexic and she posed w a goat in an srticle? Is choi sick in the head? She is not pretty by any far stretch of the imagination

  20. What are Kelly Choi’s credentials in the food world?

She’s host of top chef masters, but what does that exactly mean? Where did any of her food training come from that makes her a worthy host? Wikipedia says she used to be a model and hosted another food show, but again, why her?
A face in front of the camera and a contract favorable to the network are probably high on the reason list. Do Not be overly impressed by any chef on TV. For every 1 you actually see on any type of show, there are at least several hundred of equal or superior skill levels you will never know about. Also, most of the tv chefs do have limited skill ranges. Any educated cook can take a bag of groceries and make a meal out of the contents. There is no such thing as a top chef. No matter how good you are, there is always someone better at something that has to do with food or running a kitchen. I have over 400 tv appearances, I am rated in the top 4% of active professional chefs in North America by my peers, and after 33 years in the kitchens & class rooms, I still have a lot to learn and skills to acquire. The only important thing you need to really know about food is how to handle it, cooking methods, nutrition, and never forgetting to enjoy the time you spend at meals with your friends and loved ones. Everything else is secondary.
Not to worry, do not let anyone rain on your barbecue:) For every dope out there, there is someone who is cool and fun. It does balance out in the end.
